Liz Cook Photography
As Lynchburg's Premier Birth Photographer I believe your birth space is sacred and deserving of the utmost respect and support. My passion for the mothers of our community extends past just taking pictures. I am here to plan with you, to care for you, to celebrate this milestone alongside of you, and to connect you with the other amazing birth and motherhood support resources in the Central Virginia area.

These mini sessions are designed to provide you with images to share your exciting news with your family and friends. Petite sessions lasting just long enough to keep your child happy, the images produced during these short sessions will be treasured for generations to come! Liz is not only incredibly talented, she is gracious and respectful, and instantly sets everyone around her at ease.

As she blends in and works silently, her love and honor for the laboring woman and the birth process enable her to capture candid moments that show pure emotion and love. With her calm presence, attentiveness and intuition she is an absolute delight and blessing to work with!
Services
I am a professional birth photographer living in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
My husband and I are big Mad Men fans and our youngest daughter was named after the actress who portrayed Betty Draper.
In 2013, I took my family with me on my third non-profit assignment to Nepal for Allow The Children ministries.
Traveling for non-profit work is an amazing opportunity I'll never take for granted!
I'm a little crunchy and prefer my home and body products be as non-toxic as possible.
My kids wore amber teething necklaces and cloth diapers and at one point I was washing our laundry with soap nuts.
All maternity sessions include access to the full studio wardrobe, including many of the dresses you see here.
A complimentary styling consultation is also highly recommended for all sessions to help you make the most of your investment.
Professional hair and make-up services are available as an add-on.
This adventure is the most rewarding, exhausting, humbling, challenging, revealing, exciting, scary, yet important endeavor one can accomplish.
However, never with perfection.
In fact, it takes a whole lot of grace and self-love to carry us through some of the seasons of motherhood.
In the passing moments of a labor and delivery experience, it's easy to miss all that's taking place.
Anticipation, excitement and relief are only the beginning of the emotions which may pour out during your birth experience.
I know, life is busy.
I'm a mom to two and if you happen to be an over-thinker like me, I feel certain we have similar thoughts.
You and I both know this journey takes a whole lot of grace and self-love to pull us through some days or weeks.
To be honest, that is the very reason I am passionate about my work.
This job enables me to enter a world where I can look back and recognize the beauty in my own journey while also observing the beauty of yours.
But more than observation, my work allows me the opportunity to connect with amazing mothers like yourself, to show you the beauty in your world.
Beginning with labor, all the way through delivery to baby's first breath, meeting mom, dad and family members, birth photography tells the story of your baby's birthday.
I arrive at your birth once active labor has started (about 5-6cm dilated) and stay until the baby is all clean and settled into your arms, usually about 2 hours after delivery.
I am committed to dropping whatever I am doing so I can make it to your birth in time for your delivery, even if it means giving up a night of sleep.
This is part of the reason birth photography is a large investment, because it requires me to sacrifice pieces of my personal life so that I can capture such a huge event in your life.
