Joel Simpson Photography
Award-winning wedding photographer, exhibiting and published fine art photographer, polyglot world traveler, I want to find out your vision for your wedding. My pleasure in this business is in getting to know my clients. That's how I help you relax and bring out your beautiful natural self in front of my camera. Sure, we do great posed photos, but the power of your wedding album or photo collection will come more from my capturing your spontaneous emotion in brief moments throughout the day.
Services
Every wedding is a unique story-on different levels.
For starters there's YOUR experience and then there's how your new spouse, family, and friends experience YOU.
I already start telling your story at your reception when I download your prep, ceremony, and formal portrait photos and PROJECT them during the dinner.
Engagement sessions are meant to catch you having fun together in a setting that you love-a park by a lake, the New York skyline in Weehawkin, your favorite haunts in New York or your town, or my studio.
You dress casually, and I capture you both spontaneously and posed.
And don't worry about posing: it's meant to express your love, and we work on these together.
I can also capture a proposal from a completely unobtrusive place, as you can see.
You'll receive a complete set of edited images from this session.
We have fun with family portraits.
First we meet to talk about what to wear and where to have it.
This also gives me a chance to meet everyone in the family and show interest in your children.
We work together to create strong portraits, then I come to your house and PROJECT the edited results, and you make your selection.
With individual portraits and headshots, we talk about the purpose of your headshot and how to strike the right attitude for what you want.
Results are guaranteed.
I've taken portraits of people around the world, even with no language in common with very satisfying results.
A lifelong photographer, I opened my studio doors in 2006, when I realized that wedding photography could be artistically satisfying.
Since then I've striven to give my clients the best in personal service and taken enormous pleasure in getting to know people from many different social, religious, national and ethnic backgrounds.
I do this when I travel the world, and I do it right at home with my clients.
The power of photography is its believability: it represents a visual reality.
But the way we see and imagine things, especially people, is highly conditioned by our feelings and desires.
