I am a lover of good people and good food, and I enjoy photographing both. My goals for the images I create in each kind of work are fairly simple: To tell an elegant, human story or to just make you hungry. Usually I end up shooting real people on assignments, as opposed to models. While I'm not opposed to shooting the latter, I really do enjoy making nonprofessional talent look their best.
And as an avid cook, I have little interest in shooting artificially-styled, fake food that cannot be eaten. Before diving headlong into commercial photography I spent a good chunk of my life working in advertising agencies as an art director. That experience taught me the value of compelling imagery, the harsh reality of deadlines, and the awesome power of collaboration.
At the end of the day, I believe most commercial photography assignments become an exercise in artistic problem solving, and that's totally fine by me. In fact, the inherent challenges seem to really float my boat.
A partial list of clients includes Smithfield Foods, Rocky Mountain Power, Intermountain Healthcare, University of Utah, Faktory, Park City Visitors Bureau, Vault Magazine, The Madeleine Choir School, Riester Advertising, University of Cincinnati, Salt Lake City Corporation, Limestrong Artisan Plasters, and Houweling's Tomatoes.
