I'm Clinton James and I have been covering Seattle, Bellingham and San Juan Island weddings for almost 20 years. Yes, I have experience. As a wedding photojournalist, engagement and elopement photographer offering film and film-like intimate weddings, I deliver that sought after balance of images with beautiful, thoughtful elegance and candid, honest emotions.
I travel throughout the San Juan Islands and Puget Sound region covering elegant weddings for style-conscious couples who want great pictures AND want to enjoy their wedding experience in style. Taking pictures is my 9-5 passion. I love my career and the great couples I get to know and work with on a significant day of their lives. When I'm not making beautiful images, you can often find me biking local trails or paddling around the Puget Sound in a wooden kayak I made by hand.
My restless creativity is always craving to learn something new. At the moment, I'm learning to restore mid-century furniture, grow heirloom tomatoes, and Adobe Illustrator.

Full disclosure: I didn't go to school for photography.
In college, I was more interested in the Big Picture: Philosophy.
Religion.
Aesthetics.
My professors assigned books which hinted at something more, an eternal Beauty, an experience of being ALIVE!
It didn't take long to discover that authentic feeling of being alive wasn't found in philosophy books.
After earning a degree, I loaded my pack with watercolor supplies, a camera, a journal, a map, and headed West.
I was looking for that direct experience with LIFE.
